SXSW Interactive 2012 – Day 5

2 parties – 2 panels – 1 lounge – 1 band – 1 DJ – Catch A Chevy – Connected Lunch – The Big Goodbye

Starting the day at panels, but waiting for the city bus does take some patience.  It makes me a little late for the Spotify panel.

Panel 1 – The Future of Music Consumption

The panel is in progress when I arrive.  The interesting aspect of being at the interactive portion of SXSW is that the panels are not all catering to artists or music industry folk.  What I like about this panel is it’s a ‘fireside chat’ with David Drainman the lead singer from Disturbed and Ken Parks from Spotify.  This is one of those times when what an artist says allows people working with technology to have a clearer understanding of the direct impact they may have on an artist.  The gist of what I am hearing from David is that Spotify and other streaming services are fantastic marketing tools, if an artist limits their thinking that these are only replacement models for old revenue streams, they are not considering the true opportunity.

Catch A Chevy

My next meeting is at the Spotify House.  Margaret has decided to make the trip with me.  Since it’s on the east side and we have walked there before, we make an excuse to find a Pedi cab to save our feet, it is day 5 after all.  Read more

Spotify House @SXSW ***UPDATED

Sherry is at Spotify House right now!

Try and “Spot” her. (I think I’m soooo funny)

I’m sure she’s enjoying the beverages and the snacks. (No, I’m not jealous…)

It says The Sheepdogs are playing at 4!

Follow Spotify House on twitter: @spotifysouth to see what’s going on.

There’s loads of fun stuff going on all week.

Let us know if you go there, what’s there, who you saw, what you ate/drank.

By us, I mean me…i am jealous.

UPDATE.

Sherry here.  I did indeed visit the Spotify House at SXSW yesterday and today. I caught two fantastic acoustic shows.   Read more
